Kip has also logged over 1,000 scuba dives, mostly during research and photographic expeditions.

In addition to his diving and photography experience, Kip has worked as a marine biologist, expedition leader for natural history organizations, a marine science instructor and an educational specialist for the National Marine Sanctuary Program. When he is not traveling, he volunteers his time with the Pacific Grove Ocean Rescue Team, where he helps victims of water related emergencies.
